New vehicle sales in 2024 built on the strong performance of 2023 to set another national sales record (1,237,288 units). Passenger and Light commercial vehicles made up the bulk of this, approaching 1.2m total sales for the year, but it again came with challenges. Fleet buyers remained active, but private buyers pulled back given ongoing issues around consumer confidence. We also saw a marked decline in EV sales, with Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrids proving a more compelling option for many.
